Scouting the Argos
The University of Providence Argos are 1-3 in Frontier Conference play after picking up a victory over MSU-Northern on Thursday night in Great Falls. The Argos then lost a back-and-forth contest against Carroll College in Helena on Saturday, 64-58. The Argos, coached by Bill Himmelberg (10th season), are led by point guard Emily Maldonado who is averaging 14.2 PPG and 4.7 APG. The Argos are third in the NAIA averaging 10.1 made threes per game. The Orediggers won the both meetings against the Argos on Kelvin Sampson Court last season.
 
Scouting the No. 18 Skylights
The Skylights of MSU-Northern lost to both Carroll College and University of Providence to start their January schedule of Frontier Conference games. The Skylights were 13-1 and ranked as high as No. 11 before their recent stumble. MSU-Northern is coached by Chris Mouat (15th season) and led in scoring by Peyton Kehr (10.7 PPG) and in rebounding by Hailey Nicholson (8.0 RPG). The Skylights are first in the NAIA in scoring defense per game (48.5 PPG), 3-pt FG percentage defense (21.1%), and defensive field goal percentage (30.5%).

Urick Turns It On
Oredigger sophomore guard Dani Urick scored 19 points to lead the Orediggers against Rocky Mountain College. Urick, a Belt, Mont., native, was 5-for-11 from the floor, 8-for-8 from the free throw line, and snagged five rebounds. Urick is averaging 10.7 PPG, shooting 42.3% from the floor, and 83.3% from the free throw line.
 
Climbing the Rebounding Ladder
Montana Tech's Tavia Rooney is leading the Frontier Conference in rebounding (11.6 RPG). The freshman has 186 rebounds and has reached double-digits in rebounding in 10 games. Rooney is fast approaching Montana Tech's single-season rebounding Top-10 list where Connie Froke holds the single-season record (292). 
 
Elite Defensively
Montana Tech is second in the NAIA in field goal percentage defense (31.3%) and 3-PT field goal defense (23.4%). The Orediggers are second in the Frontier Conference to only MSU-Northern (48.2 PPG) in scoring defense (53.1 PPG). 
 
Home Sweet Home
The Orediggers return to Kelvin Sampson Court for their first home game since their 83-59 upset win over No. 13 Lewis-Clark State on December 7th.
