The Thunder of Concordia University of Edmonton are journeying from the Great White North to take on three Frontier Conference teams in four days to start the new year. The Thunder play MSU-Northern on Jan. 1, Carroll College on Jan. 2, and Montana Tech Jan. 3-4. The Thunder are 7-5 overall and haven't played in the month of December. The Thunder are averaging 80.0 PPG, allowing 77.7 PPG, shooting 44.5% from the floor, and 37.5% from three. Concordia is led in scoring by Ronald Bacon Jr. 16.5 PPG, Luka Korosec 15.8 PPG, Lucas Turchet 13.1 PPG, and Thomas Laxdal 10.6 PPG.
 
Conference Prep Period

The Orediggers will be playing in their third and fourth game over the holiday break this weekend. Montana Tech is using these games as preparation for the Frontier Conference schedule that starts on Jan. 9 when the Orediggers travel to Billings to take on Rocky Mountain College and Jan. 11 when the Orediggers play Western in Dillon. Montana Tech went 2-0 at the Carroll Holiday Classic defeating Walla Walla 84-64 and SAIT 92-42.
 
Hot Starts
Montana Tech has outscored their opponents 490-357 in the first half of games. The Orediggers have jumped out to large leads lately as well leading 46-36 against Walla Walla at the half and 57-14 against Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. The Orediggers opened up the contest against SAIT on an 18-0 run. Montana Tech is 5-3 when ahead at the half and 1-2 when trailing at intermission.
 
Four in Double Figures

Montana Tech has four players averaging double figures in Sindou Diallo (21.3 PPG), Troy Owens Jr. (14.6 PPG), Taylor England (13.0 PPG), and Dylan Pannabecker (10.9 PPG). In the 2018-19 season, England (15.3 PPG) and Owens Jr. (13.2 PPG) were the only Diggers to finish the season averaging over 10 points per game.
 
Three Point Barrage
Montana Tech knocked down a season-high 17 three-pointers in their victory over Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. The last time the Orediggers made 17 threes was on Nov. 24, 2018 when they defeated Salish Kootenai College, in a game that was coincidentally played at Carroll College. Montana Tech finished the game against SAIT shooting 45.9% from three point land and 50.8% from the floor.
