Scouting the Bulldogs
Montana Western (1-0, 0-0 Conf.) will be playing their first game in 28 days when they take the floor against Montana Tech. The Bulldogs defeated Yellowstone Christian College 66-56 to start their season after being picked sixth in the Frontier Conference preseason coaches' poll. The Bulldogs finished the 2019-20 season with a 11-19 overall record and a 4-14 mark in the Frontier Conference. Montana Tech swept the Bulldogs all three times they played last year. The Bulldogs are led in scoring by Jamal Stephenson (17.0 PPG).
Scouting the (RV) Fighting Saints
The Carroll College Fighting Saints are receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll but dropped their Frontier Conference opening game to Montana Tech on December 16th. The Saints finished the 2019-20 season with a 24-9 overall and a 13-5 conference record. Carroll College lost in last spring's Frontier Conference tournament's championship game 75-54 to Lewis-Clark State College. The Saints are led in scoring by Shamrock Campbell (18.2 PPG) and Jovan Sljivcanin (16.2 PPG, 7.6 RPG).
Player of the Week
The Frontier Conference awarded
Taylor England Player of the Week honors after his 20 point and 15 rebound effort against the Saints. England finished the contest 6-for-10 from the floor and 8-for-11 from the charity stripe. The award was England's third of the season and the sixth of his career.
Brown Impresses
Markeith Brown Jr. scored a season-high 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the floor and knocked down three triples in the Diggers win over Carroll College. Brown is the all-time leading scorer at Everett Community College with 1,382 career points and 224 made three point field goals.
Diallo's Strong Start
Montana Tech guard
Sindou Diallo was the Diggers second leading scorer in their 20-point victory over Carroll College scoring 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting. Diallo also grabbed seven boards for the Diggers in the winning effort. Diallo averaged 19.1 PPG a season ago.
