Scouting the Northern Lights
The Northern Lights come to Butte looking to shake a six-game losing streak that started on January 31. The Lights (6-10, 5-10 Conf.) split with the Diggers in Havre winning 65-61 on January 16 and losing in overtime 71-69 on January 17. MSU-Northern is led in scoring by Mascio McCadney who averages 16.5 PPG while David Harris (15.6 PPG) and Jomel Boyd (13.7 PPG) are also in double figures. Northern averages 69.8 PPG on the offensive end but surrenders the second lowest number of points per game (70.6 PPG) in the Frontier Conference.

Playoff Picture
Montana Tech will finish the Frontier Conference season with the third seed in the tournament locked up. The Diggers enter the weekend with a 61% win-percentage and will host Rocky in the first round of the playoffs next Thursday at Kelvin Sampson Court.

Approaching 1K
Oredigger guard Sindou Diallo is fast approaching the 1,000 career point mark in his second season at Montana Tech. Diallo has scored 927 points in a Montana Tech uniform in just 49 career games. Diallo needs another 73 points to become the 11th Oredigger on the 1,000 point club list.

Trust the Process
The Montana Tech men's basketball program has improved steadily under the direction of Head Coach Adam Hiatt. After taking over in 2016, Hiatt's Orediggers have gone from winning just 5% of their conference games in 2016-17 (1-17 Conf.) to posting back-to-back winning seasons in 2019-20 (10-8 Conf.) and 2020-21 (11-7 Conf.). The 11 wins is the most for the Orediggers since the 1998 season when the Diggers went 12-4 in the Frontier Conference.

Senior Day
Montana Tech men's basketball will recognize senior post Cody Liles during the game on Sunday. Liles, a Florence, Mont. native, played four years for the Orediggers and is set to graduate with a degree in Business & information Technology this spring. Liles has given the Diggers some critical minutes this season appearing in 12 games, shooting 50 percent from the floor, and averaging 1.0 rebound per contest.
