Oredigger Golf Wraps Up in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Montana Tech men finished third and the women landed in fourth at the Walla Walla Invite at Wine Valley Golf Course.

"I thought we played really well for the tournament for both our men and women. Obviously early in the spring season we're going to have shots get away from us, but we are getting better every round," said head coach Sean Ryan

"Our men took third against some really talented teams and had three rounds under 300 for the first time this spring."

Lewis-Clark State took the top spot with a team total of 861 (-3). Multnomah finished in second with an 884 (+20) and the Orediggers shot 887 (+23) as a team.

Sean Ramsbacher shot par in the final round and took second with a total score of 213 (-3). Lewis-Clark State's Carlos Davila shot a two-under today to take the top spot by just a stroke with a 212 (-4).

"Sean had some bad breaks during his rollercoaster round, but he was able to keep it together and post a solid score."

The Orediggers had three golfers in the top 10 including Ramsbacher. Isaiah Weldon finished in sixth shooting a 73 in the final round and finished with a 220 (+4). Matt Hobbs had his best round today hitting a 72 today and finished with a 221 (+5) finishing in T7. Jace Rhodes shot a 233 (+17) finishing in T22.

Isaiah and Matt did a great job posting good numbers for the team and keeping us in it. Matt hit the ball incredibly well, but just couldn't make a put today. His round could've easily been in the 60s if he rolled it a little better."

The Warriors also won on the women's side finishing with a 653 (+77). Corban took second with a 655 (+79). The Orediggers improved on their first day finishing with a 698 (+122).

Deana Caruso of Lewis-Clark won the women's field firing a 76 today to separate from the pack. Caruso finished with a 157 (+13).

Samantha Benson led the Orediggers finishing in 12th place after being in a tie for first after the first day. Benson shot an 88 today finishing with a 168 (+24).

"Emily played great for the team today and yesterday. Sami had a really rough start, but weathered it to finish the tournament well."

Emily Kelly finished in T13 with a 170 (+26). Kennedy Lean and Cierra Sundheim finished with a score of 182 (+38) in T23.

"I think our ladies are right on the brink of posting some great scores."

The Frontier Conference Championship is up next for the Orediggers. Tech travels to Eagle, Idaho for the final conference meet at the Branbury Golf Course.
