Men's Basketball Moves Up in Coaches' Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the sixth 2022-23 NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches" Top 25 Poll today. After sitting firm at No. 1, the last two polls, Montana Tech is now sitting just outside of the top 10 moving into No. 11 in the national rankings.

The Orediggers (21-4, 9-3) went 3-1 since the release of the last poll. Tech went 3-0 at home and received the loss on the road in Havre against MSU-Northern.

College of Idaho (22-1) received the top ranking once again and garnered all 20 first place votes in the poll. The rest of the top 10 saw the most movement of any poll this season.  Arizona Christian (21-4) moved back into the second spot and Union (Ky.) (22-1) took over No. 3. Grace (Ind.) (22-3) made the most gain in the top 10 moving up three spots into No. 4. Langston (Okla.) (22-2) rounds out the top five dropping two spots from the last poll.

Oklahoma Wesleyan (22-3) remains in the top 10 while falling from No. 2 to No. 8 this week. Indiana Wesleyan (18-7) dropped from No. 6 to No. 13 in the largest drop in the poll.

No. 18 Huntington (Ind.) (19-6) and No. 19 LSU Shreveport (la.) (19-5) entered the poll after receiving votes the previous edition.

Montana Tech had been the lone Frontier Conference school appearing in the poll the last couple of releases. MSU-Northern (18-7, 7-5) is receiving votes in this week's poll. The Lights are on a five-game win streak heading into this week and are tied for second in the Frontier Conference standings. The Orediggers and the Lights face off in the final game of the season at the Armory in Havre.

This week Montana Tech hosts their final home game of the regular season. The Orediggers host the Carroll College Fighting Saints Thursday at 7 p.m.
