TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Montana Tech women's cross country team raced to a 23rd-place finish Friday morning at the NAIA national championship meet.

Seniors Kamryn Comba and Alyssa Jany led the way for the Orediggers with top-100 results. Comba crossed the line 76th, patrolling the 6-kilometer course at Apalachee Regional Park in a personal-best 22:39.5 to lead the way for Montana Tech. Jany finished not far behind in 85th, clocking in at 22:47.0.

Caught in traffic early in the race, Comba and Jany made up significant ground as the run went on. Sitting in 144th one-third of the way through the course, Comba jumped 30 spots by the 3k mark and climbed into the top 100 by the 4k. She picked off 19 more runners in the final third to land 76th. Similarly, Jany leapt up 36 positions in the race's final half.

Freshman Amy Broek was the third Oredigger across the line, finishing 112th in 22:59.5. It was the best-ever finish for a Montana Tech freshman at the national meet.

Sophomore Bella Bermingham took 247th in 24:28.4, and freshman Kendra Jensen was 250th in 24:31.9, rounding out the scoring five for Tech. Freshmen Mya Green (269th, 24:55.2) and Janica Clark (280th, 25:11.7) completed the Oredigger lineup.

The 23rd-place finish matched Montana Tech's 2023 team finish at the national meet and tied for the program's third-best ever at the championship race. The Orediggers were 11th in 2021 and 21st last season. Comba's 76th-place result was the fourth-best individual performance in program history.

Taylor sophomore Jaynie Halterman successfully defended her individual championship at the meet, leading the Trojans to the team title.

Montana Tech wraps up the 2025 women's cross country season ranked No. 21 in the national coaches' ratings. The Orediggers finished as runners-up at the Frontier Conference championships and earned an at-large berth to the national race.
