HELENA -- Montana Tech's women's cross country team will open the 2026 season picked second among the Frontier Conference's squads, the league office announced Wednesday.
The Orediggers, last season's runner-up at the Frontier championship meet, earned 91 points and one first-place vote in the annual coaches' poll. That put them only behind defending conference champion Carroll, which garnered the maximum 100 points and the other nine top nods. Tech came in well ahead of third-picked Dakota State, which collected 74 points.
Montana Tech will look to qualify its team for the NAIA national championship for a fourth-consecutive season. The team took 23rd at the 2025 championship meet.
The majority of that squad returns for head coach
Jacob Sundberg in 2026, highlighted by junior
Bella Bermingham and sophomores
Amy Broek,
Kendra Jensen, and
Mya Green, all of whom represented the Orediggers at nationals a season ago. Broek led the Oredigger returners at last year's Frontier championship meet, where she finished 10th.
Montana Tech's cross country teams will begin the 2026 season in Bozeman at the MSU Bobcat Twilight on Friday, September 4. The Frontier Conference championships will be held in Billings on November 6, and the NAIA championship meet is set for November 20 in Vancouver, Wash.
