BILLINGS -- The No. 17-ranked Montana Tech women's cross country team ran to a runner-up finish at the Frontier Conference championship meet Friday morning at Billings' Amend Park.
Led by a pair of all-conference finishers in seniors
Alyssa Jany and
Kamryn Comba, the Orediggers totaled 65 points in the 6-kilometer race and had the best team average time in the field at 23:10.6, but it wasn't quite enough to overtake Carroll College in the scoring.
Jany led the way for Montana Tech, finishing fifth in 22:39.7 to garner all-conference honors. Comba finished a spot behind in sixth (22:54.7), also earning an all-conference spot.
Freshman
Amy Broek took 14th in 23:14.8, followed by fellow freshman
Mya Green in 17th (23:25.2). Sophomore
Bella Bermingham was the fifth scorer for the Orediggers, clocking in at 23:38.4 for 25th.
Freshmen
Kendra Jensen (30th, 23:48.6),
Janica Clark (41st, 24:40.5),
Ryleigh Kleinke (24:42.6),
Terryn Chirrick (45th, 24:57.8), and
Hadyn Garza (57th, 26:03.1) also raced for the Orediggers.
Montana Tech will hope to see its name called as an at-large qualifier for the NAIA national championship when selections are announced Tuesday, November 11 at 3 p.m. The national meet is set for November 21 in Tallahassee, Fla.
