BUTTE, Mont. -- Montana Tech men's basketball and head coach
Adam Hiatt are thrilled to announce the Orediggers' 2025 recruiting class.
The four-time defending Frontier Conference champions will be bringing four new faces — three freshmen and one transfer — into the program for the 2025-26 season.
"We could not be more thrilled with this year's recruiting class," Hiatt said. "These are four unbelievably talented players, but also terrific fits for our program. They all have championship résumés and have expectations to win. With the core talent and experience we have returning for the 2025-26 season, adding these four players will help elevate the program to new heights."
The members of Montana Tech's 2025 recruiting class are:
Marley Gonzalez, Center, 6-8, Escondido, Calif.
Gonzalez led the San Diego City College Knights to a 23-6 overall record and a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship…Played for coach Mitch Charlens…First-team All-PCAC selection…Finished the 2024-25 season averaging 10.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg at 57.6% shooting from the field…In conference play, elevated his play to 11.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg at 59% FGs and a 15-1 record…Competed in two consecutive CCCAA state playoffs…Son of Jose and Freya Gonzalez…Will be an interdisciplinary arts and sciences major.
Coach Hiatt on Gonzalez: "We are fortunate to have Marley joining the program. This offseason we set out to find a dominant paint presence to add to the bevy of perimeter threats we have here at Montana Tech. As a basketball player, he has great feet and hands and the size and strength to move defenders. He is an excellent defensive presence and is nearly impossible to defend on the block one-on-one. Most importantly, Marley has a terrific personality which blends well with our locker room. The best part about Marley is that his ceiling is very high. We are very excited to help him reach it."
Easton Sant, Guard, 5-11, Missoula, Mont.
Sant led the Hellgate Knights to a 14-7 overall record and a third-consecutive trip to the Class AA state tournament…Played for coach Jeff Hayes…Three-time all-state selection in Class AA…Four-year varsity starter (70-20 overall record)…Averaged a remarkable 10.4 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.0 apg, and 1.6 spg over his high school career…Ranks top 10 in school history in points and steals and second in assists…Won 2023 Class AA state championship…2024 Western AA MVP…Son of Rick and Tammy Sant…Plans to be a business and information technology major.
Coach Hiatt on Sant "Easton is a flat-out winner and is as tough as they come. He played his entire senior season on a torn meniscus but never once made an excuse. Very few players in Class AA have the distinction of being a four-year starter like Easton. This is due to his exceptional basketball feel, his tremendous lateral quickness, and his unrivaled competitive instinct. A leader, a selfless teammate, he's a must-have for our program."
Ethan Stack, Forward, 6-6, Missoula, Mont.
Stack led the Loyola Sacred Heart Rams to a 24-1 overall record and a Class B state championship…Played for coach Scott Anderson…Three-time all-state selection…Class B triple jump state champion in track & field…As a varsity starter (85-12 career record), won Class B championships in 2023, 2024, and 2025…Finished the 2024-25 championship season with averages of 20.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 5.4 apg, and 3.6 spg...Over his four-year career, he scored 1,598 points, grabbed 572 rebounds, and dished out 392 assists…Selected to play in the 2025 Montana/Wyoming all-star basketball series…Son of Tobi and Kari Stack…Plans to major in exercise and health science.
Coach Hiatt on Stack: "Ethan is a terrific prospect. Having played the point guard throughout high school, he has a unique blend of size, athleticism, and court vision. He is a fantastic all-around basketball player whose game translates to our level. Ethan is a winner and understands what goes into winning. He is a multi-sport athlete and has achieved success in everything that he has participated in. We have high expectations for Ethan Stack."
Asher Williams, Guard, 6-6, Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Williams led the Bonners Ferry Badgers to a 24-1 overall record and back-to-back Idaho 4A state championships…Played for coach Nathan Williams…Four-time All-State selection…Three-time Idaho 4A Player of the Year…Three-time IML Player of the Year…Two-time state tournament MVP…Led the state in scoring (28.6 ppg) and is top six all-time in the history of Idaho high school basketball with over 2,200 career points…In the 2025 state championship run, averaged 27.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 3.3 spg while shooting 85 percent from the field and 100 percent from the free-throw line…Played in the state tournament all four years as a starter (82-16 career record) with a state runner-up finish in 2023 and consecutive titles in 2024 and 2025…Broke a 35-year-old school record for points in a game with 50 versus rival Timberlake on January 18, 2025…Son of Nathan and Star Williams…Plans to study business and information technology.
Coach Hiatt on Williams: "Asher had a storied career and one of the best resumes in the history of Idaho high school basketball. He led Bonners Ferry High School to its first state championships in school history and was arguably the best player in the entire state over the past two seasons. He possesses all the basketball tools to be an immediate impact player for Montana Tech. We expect him to develop into a program standard-bearer in short order."
Montana Tech's men's basketball team posted a 24-7 record, won its fourth-straight Frontier Conference regular-season and tournament titles, and finished the season ranked No. 21 in the NAIA's coaches' poll.
