AUSTIN, Texas -- Five Montana Tech men's track & field and cross country student-athletes garnered Academic All-District honors, presented by College Sports Communicators, CSC announced Tuesday.
Seniors Caden Caywood, Jon Hansen, Justin Morgan, and Jacob Sriraman and junior Ben Zerr all made the cut.
Student-athletes must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, sophomore or better standing, and rank in the top 25 of her conference in an event to be eligible. Institutions are limited to five honorees each year. Academic All-District award recipients are then selected for eligibility for Academic All-America honors by a CSC committee. Both Caywood and Zerr earned spots on the national ballot.
Caywood, a Tendoy, Idaho native and mechanical engineering major, earned All-Frontier Conference honors in the 200-meter dash and 4x400m relay, helping Montana Tech to a runner-up finish at the conference meet in May. A Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member, Caywood helped organize Montana Tech's annual Techspy awards and various service initiatives. He was a member of the Orediggers' program-record 4x100m relay team. Caywood held a 3.85 grade-point average.
Hansen, an exercise and health science major from Colbert, Wash., carried a 3.69 GPA. He was a member of the first men's cross country team to qualify for the NAIA national meet in 2023 and landed on the podium at Frontier track & field championships in both the 800m run and 4x800m relay. He was part of Tech's program-record 4x800m relay and ranks on the team's all-time top 10 in four events.
Morgan, an electrical engineering major from Thompson Falls, finished his undergraduate career with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was a member of the first-ever Montana Tech men's cross country team to qualify for the NAIA national meet in 2023 and holds the program record in the 3,000m Steeplechase.
Sriraman, a Missoula native and mathematical sciences major, holds program all-time top-10 times in six distance-running events. He finished on the podium at the 2025 Frontier championships in the 10,000m run. Sriraman graduated with a 3.9 GPA.
Zerr, a civil engineering major from Kailua, Hawaii, won the Frontier championship in the 10,000m run last month. He was also all-conference in cross country and logged podium finishes in the 3,000m Steeplechase and 5,000m run at the conference meet. A national qualifier in cross country, Zerr raced to 175th at the NAIA national meet in November. Off the track, Zerr volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and Montana Tech-led environmental cleanups. He sports a 3.97 GPA.
Montana Tech's five men's track & field and cross country honorees are the most in program history.
