HELENA -- Fresh off the first conference championship in program history, the Montana Tech women's cross country team earned top honors in the 2025 Frontier Conference's preseason poll, the league office announced Tuesday.
The 2024 Frontier champions garnered 97 points and eight of the 11 first-place votes in the survey, leading second-picked Carroll by eight points. A first-place vote is worth 11 points, second place is worth 10, third is worth nine, and down the list to last place with one point.
This year's cross country season, like other Frontier Conference sports, will have a new look to it with the addition of five programs to the league. Bellevue, Dakota State, Dickinson State, and Valley City State join the conference via its absorption of the North Star Athletic Association, while Bismarck State enters the league from the NJCAA's Mon-Dak Athletic Conference as it transitions to a four-year institution.
Montana Tech's squad returns as pair of all-conference selections in seniors
Kamryn Comba and
Alyssa Jany, and the Orediggers bring back half of their top eight racers from the 2024 championship meet. Tech finished 21st at the NAIA national meet.
The Orediggers begin the 2025 season next Friday, August 29 in Bozeman at the MSU Bobcat Twilight.
