KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Montana Tech football team climbed to No. 7 in the latest NAIA coaches' top 25 poll, the NAIA national office announced Monday afternoon.
The Orediggers sport a 3-0 record, including a pair of wins over ranked opponents, through the first three contests of the season. Those victories were enough to move Tech up four spots from its No. 11 ranking in the preseason ballot.
It's Montana Tech's highest ranking in the national top 25 since October 2, 2017, when the Orediggers were ranked fifth.
Montana Tech began the 2025 season with a 38-27 win over then-No. 5 Montana Western at home August 28. Tech then hit the road for No. 25 Carroll and topped the Fighting Saints, 30-19, in Helena September 6 before returning to Alumni Coliseum Saturday, where the Diggers bested Rocky Mountain, 34-23.
Tech was the highest-ranked Frontier Conference team in the poll. Montana Western checked in ninth, followed by No. 11 Dickinson State, No. 24 Southern Oregon, and No. 25 Carroll. College of Idaho also received votes.
