HELENA -- Following a record-breaking performance and her first collegiate win last week, Montana Tech's
Kodie Hoagland garnered the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference women's golfer of the week award, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Hoagland, a senior from Butte, broke the Orediggers' low round record last Monday in Round 1 of the Providence Invitational at Eagle Falls Golf Course in Great Falls, shooting an even-par 71. Last Tuesday, she shot a 9-over-par 80 to win the tournament and lead the Montana Tech team to victory in its first tournament of the year.
Last Monday's 71 bested teammate
Emma Woods' previous low round by a stroke (a record Woods broke again Tuesday at the Dickinson State Invitational). Hoagland joins Woods as the only Oredigger women ever to win medalist honors in a tournament and to be named Frontier golfer of the week.
This week, Hoagland again fired a 71, this time 1-under, to lead Tech's women on Day 1 of the Dickinson State Invitational in Dickinson, N.D. She tied Woods for third at the tournament as the Oredigger team placed second.
The Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference athlete of the week awards are nominated and voted upon by the conference's athletic communications professionals.
