HELENA -- Montana Tech senior
Alyssa Jany landed the first Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference women's cross country runner of the week award, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
Jany, a native of Frederick, Colo., took seventh in a 75-woman field at Montana State University's Bobcat Twilight meet Friday evening. She covered the 5-kilometer course in Bozeman in 18:58.0 to finish seventh in the race and was the top NAIA finisher.
It marks the first time Jany earned a Frontier weekly honor, but it's far from the senior's first accolades. She was fourth at the 2024 conference championship meet, earning all-conference accolades and helping the Orediggers to their first-ever conference title in women's cross country. Jany followed that with a second-straight track athlete of the meet honor at the 2025 Frontier track & field championships as Montana Tech won a fourth-consecutive league title.
She and the Oredigger cross country teams will compete next at the UM Invite in Missoula September 19. Tech's women were ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA coaches' poll, and the men received votes.
