RICHLAND, Wash. -- The Montana Tech men's golf team played to fifth place Monday on Day 1 of the Columbia Basin Invitational, checking in at 60 over par through most of two rounds at Meadow Springs Country Club.
Junior
Tyler Avery, playing in his 2025-26 season debut, led the way for the Orediggers. The Kalispell native carded a Round 1 score of 9-over-par 81 and finished his day at 2-over in Round 2, completing 14 holes before play was suspended due to darkness. Avery is tied for fifth, just three shots out of the lead.
Freshman
Brenner Booth and sophomore
Colin Wade both finished the day in the top 20 for the Orediggers. Booth carded a first-round 82 and was 3-over through 15 holes in the second to finish the day tied for 16th, while Wade shot 83 in Round 1 and was also 3-over through 15 in the afternoon circuit.
Trey Mattson (83-77—160, t-24th),
Joe McGreevey (81-80—161), and
Carson Hupka (86-81—167) all finished both rounds for Montana Tech, contributing to the team score.
The Orediggers head into Tuesday 23 strokes behind tournament leader Bellevue College, which also did not complete Round 2 action before sundown Monday.
Round 2 play will resume Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. PDT before the third and final round commences with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
