KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Seven Montana Tech women's basketball players claimed NAIA Scholar-Athlete accolades, the NAIA office announced this week.
Senior Liv Wangerin; juniors Avery Carlson, Olivia Nielson, Rachel Van Blaricom; and sophomore Halle Haber, Kameryn Ketcham, and Selene Morrell all made the grade.
Student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year.
Montana Tech's septet of scholar-athletes contributed to the 926 NAIA students on this year's honor roll and added to the 67 Frontier Conference women's basketball players on the list.
The Orediggers (25-4) are in the midst of the most successful season in program history. Montana Tech won the program's first Frontier Conference title since 1983 on Monday and earned one of the league's automatic bids to the NAIA national tournament. The Orediggers will head to Lewiston, Idaho for the first two rounds of the tournament, starting Friday, March 13 against Nelson (Texas).
