HELENA -- For the third time in four weeks, a Montana Tech volleyball player earned the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference attacker of the week honor.
Junior Halle Moomaw earned the award this week after powering the Orediggers to a pair of road sweeps over the weekend, the Frontier Conference office announced Monday.
Moomaw, a middle hitter from Stewardson, Ill., racked up 22 kills in just six sets over the weekend to help Tech begin Frontier play with sweeps of Mayville State and Valley City State on the road.
Friday, she put down a team-high 12 kills and hit .478 in the Orediggers' 26-24, 25-18, 25-22 victory at Mayville State. She added three digs to her line.
Saturday, Moomaw again led the team with 10 kills. She hit .500 in the match and tacked on three blocks and a dig.
The attacker of the week honor is the second for Moomaw in the first four weeks of her Oredigger volleyball career. She also won the award August 17. Fellow junior middle Madison Biery won Tech's other weekly attacking honor this season, earning the award August 24. Biery also had a big week for Tech this week, topping her own program record for single-match hitting percentage Saturday at VCSU (.818).
Moomaw wasn't the Orediggers' only weekly honoree this week; senior Rhys Layton won the Frontier's setter of the week laurel. Rocky Mountain's Zoey Albert claimed the defensive weekly award.
Montana Tech, which is riding a seven-match win streak and received votes in the latest NAIA coaches' top 25 poll, has a busy week ahead with three home matches.
The Orediggers will make their season debut in Valley Bank Arena Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Montana Western. Fans can receive a 2026 Oredigger volleyball schedule poster at the door (while supplies last), and kids wearing any kind of jersey receive free admission. As always, Montana Tech students are admitted free with their Digger Card.
