Hot Shooting Diggers Topple Biola 77-67


Helena,MT- A hot shooting Oredigger squad scorched the nets at the Carroll College Invitational beating Biola University 77-67.

The Diggers finished the game shooting 50 percent for the game and 41 percent from three point land.

Montana Tech would shoot 45 percent from the field and hit seven threes in the first half.

With Adam Greger on the bench early in the half with foul trouble Montana Tech would find more than enough offense in the first half with seven Orediggers scoring in the first stanza.

Bryan Bock would find Trent Thompson on a fast break for three to give the Orediggers a 28-24 lead with five minutes left in the first half.

Trent Thompson would find Brandon Rydberg underneath the basket at the 4:17 mark for an old fashioned three point play giving Montana Tech a 33-24 advantage.

Trent Thompson would increase the Digger lead to 9 points after collecting an offensive rebound and laying it in.

Travis Peevey stop a short Biola run by hitting a three pointer with under a minute left give the Diggers a 38-31 halftime lead.

Brandon Rydberg would lead the Orediggers on offense with 11 points shooting 57 percent and collecting 5 rebounds.

Adam Greger would score the first five points of the half for Montana Tech and extend the Oredigger lead to 43-35 with three minutes gone.

A pair of Travis Peevey three pointers and an Adam Greger jumper would grow the men in green's advantage to 53-40 with just over 14 minutes left to play.

With 10:58 left on the clock, Bryan Bock would score on a turnaround jumper to make the score 59-43.

After a small run by the Eagles, Bryan Bock would crash the offensive glass at the 8:38 mark and convert a tough two point bucket making the score 63-52.

Later in the contest, Paul Engstrom would hit a turnaround jumper with just over three minutes left in the game to make the Digger advantage 72-64.

Biola University would hit a last second jumper to make the final score 77-67.

Adam Greger would lead the Orediggers on offense with 19 points in limited minutes due to foul trouble.

Travis Peevey scored 16 points and Brandon Rydberg added 15 points while playing all 40 minutes for an Oredigger squad that had all nine players score. 

The win improves Montana Tech's record to 5-3. The Diggers will play Pacific Union on November 29th at the Westminster Holiday Classic in Salt Lake City.
