HELENA, Mont. – The Montana Tech men's golf team won their second straight Frontier Conference tournament and
Sean Ramsbacher medaled bringing home a second straight individual title at the Carroll College Invitational at Bill Roberts Golf Course.
The back-to-back team victories is a first for the Orediggers giving Tech two wins in just two tournaments.
The team title took a team effort by the Orediggers as they trailed Rocky Mountain College going into the final hole.
Trey Hoagland, who won the Montana Tech Invitational a week ago, eagled hole 18 and Ramsbacher,
JR Small, and
Jace Rhodes birdied the final hole to tie the Battlin' Bears.
Both teams teed off on hole 10 for a playoff. Each of the team's top five played the hole with the top four scores counting. Hoagland and Small both birdied and Rhodes and
Isaiah Weldon made par to take a one stroke victory.
Ramsbacher shot a 4-under par 68 for the individual title. Hoagland finished in a tie for second with a 2-under 70; Rhodes tied in sixth with a 71; Small took 10
th with a 73; and Weldon shot a 77 for 18
th place. The final team score was 282.
Montana State Norther finished in third place with a 330 and host Carroll College took fourth place with a 338.
Montana Tech hosts the conference this weekend at Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda on Sunday.
