EAGLE, Idaho – Montana Tech's
Sean Ramsbacher took the individual title in a comeback victory in the final day of the Frontier Conference Championship at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho.
"I am so incredibly proud of him and the way he battled back from eight shot back mid round to foce the playoff," said Head Coach
Sean Ryan. "He's a tremendous golfer and an even better kid and I couldn't be happier for him."
Trailing five strokes at the turn, Ramsbacher clawed his way back firing four birdies on the back nine. Ramsbacher tied the score on 17 with a birdie. Driver and Ramsbacher both birdied 18 to push the tournament to a playoff.
Both golfers birdied the first hole taking the tournament to a second playoff. Driver putted long off the green and bogeyed the hole. Ramsbacher finished with a three-foot par for the title.
Ramsbacher finished the tournament with a final score of 229 (+15). The Frontier Conference individual title is a second straight for the Oredgger men's golf team. Sean Benson won in 2019.
"It really shows the quality golfers we have in this program that we've gone back-to-back with men's individual conference champions."
Rocky Mountain College took the team title finishing 12 strokes ahead of the Orediggers with a 917 (+65). Tech finished with a team score of 929 (+77).
Isaiah Weldon moved up three spots on the leaderboard finishing T4 with a 232 (+19).
"Isaiah finished the tournament really strong going birdie-eagle on his last two holes to finish on the all-tournament team."
Brady Cady took seventh place with a 236 (+23).
Trey Hoagland finished in 10
th place with a 241 (+28).
Claire Wright from Rocky won the individual title with a final score of 240 (+27). Tanna Campbell finished in second place with a 251 (+38). Campbell's second place finish is the highest by an Oredigger women's golfer in school history.
"Tanna played really solid golf all three days and finished her Tech career on a very high note. She played great."
Carroll College won the women's team title with a final score of 1,078 (+226). The Oredigger women made a run in the final round outscoring the top two teams and finished just six strokes behind the Saints. Tech shot a final round 346, gaining 12 strokes
on the Saints and 15 on second place Rocky Mountain who finished with a 1,084 (+228). Tech finished with a final core of 1,084 (+232) for the tournament.
"The women's team made a huge comeback, but came up just short. I'm really proud of the them and their effort to battle back today."
Emily Kelly took seventh place with a final score of 269 (+56). Skyler Martin moved up a couple of spots on the leader board with her best round of the tournament today with an 87. Martin finished in ninth place with a final score of 282 (+69). Emily
Garden finished in 10
th with a final score of 283 (+70).
