Scouting the Skylights
The Skylights have lost four straight games and have won only one conference matchup this year. Their lone victory came against the Orediggers at home on January 29 in a 70-63 second half comeback.
Senior guard Peyton Kehr leads the Skylights into action ranking fifth in the league in scoring averaging 15.1 points a game while shooting 43.8% from the field. Senior forward Sydney Hovde leads the Frontier in rebounding averaging 9.8 boards a game and averages 8 points a game.
Grudge Match
The Orediggers won the first matchup at the Armory in Havre 71-61 on January 13. The Skylights turned the table in a come from behind victory in Butte downing the Orediggers 70-63. The Skylights scored 25 fourth quarter points to get their only conference win of the season.
Playoff Picture
The Orediggers are sitting in fifth place in the Frontier Conference standings going into the final regular season game. A win or loss will not move the bottom of the standings. The Orediggers will likely travel to Montana Western for the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament.
The Wild Frontier
No. 15 Rocky Mountain, No. 19 Providence, and No. 7 Carroll College are all 11-3 in conference play. Providence hosts the Saints in Great Falls Thursday. If Providence wins, they will be the top seed in the Frontier Conference Tournament. If Carroll wins and Rocky loses to Montana Western, Carroll will be the top seed. If Carroll wins and Rocky wins, Rocky will be the top seed. The winner of the Frontier Conference Tournament receives the automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
Productive Week
Sophomore forward
Tavia Rooney posted good numbers against Carroll and Providence last week. Rooney averaged 15.5 points , 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.
She had 20 points against the Saints in close-to-home game for the Townsend, Montana native. Rooney is third in the league in rebounds per game averaging 9.4 and is just 0.4 behind Northern's Hovde.
Hitting the Long Ball
