HENDERSON, Nev. – Montana Tech wrapped up the final day of the Rocky Mountain College Intercollegiate at Reflection Bay Golf Club. The Oredigger women finished in sixth place and the men finished in a tie for ninth.
"I thought this tournament was a great way to start our spring season at a very challenging course," said Head Coach
Sean Ryan. "We got better each day from our practice round to today's round and started to find our golf swings again."
The Tech women improved nine strokes from the first day with a 367 and finished with a 743 (+167). Embry Riddle (Ariz.) won the tournament with a final score of 657 (+43).
"I'm really proud of our women, we're getting some things figured out and getting good tournament experience against top quality opponents."
Franchi Ceartin led the Orediggers matching her first day score of 88 and a 176 (+32) for the tournament. Ceartin finished in 24
th.
Samantha Benson took 28
th finishing with a 181 (+37).
Cierra Sundheim finished in 29
th with a 185 (+41).
Kennedy Lean finished in 39
th with a 202 (+58).
Emily Kelly took 42
nd with a 205 (+61).
The Oredigger men tied with Augustana University (S.D.) finishing with teams scores of 640 (+64). Tech improved eight strokes on yesterday's round.
"Our men hit some great shots and scrambled well to score better than yesterday."
Embry Riddle also won the men's field with a 589 (+13).
Sean Ramsbacher shot a second round 77 finishing in T21 with a 152 (+8). Isaiah Weldon improved ten strokes on day two with a 76. Weldon moved up ten spots into T39 with a final score of 162 (+18). Matt Hobbs was also T39. Jhett Braley also had a better second round finishing with a 164 (+20) in T45. Jace Rhodes finished in 57
th with a 174 (+30).
The Orediggers travel to the Walla Walla Invitational in Washington next on March 28-29.
