The Montana Tech men's basketball team will compete at the Montana Western Invitational in Dillon, on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday the Orediggers will take on the Blue Hawks of Dickinson State University. The Blue Hawks are coached by former Montana Tech assistant Derek Selvig. Coach Selvig is in his third season at DSU.
The Blue Hawks kicked the season off with a bang, knocking off #16 Kansas Wesleyan 73-71, they then fell to Chadron State 90-83. Earlier this week they went to Pocatello, Idaho, and fell 88-61 to Idaho State.
The Orediggers and Blue Hawks have played 15 times over the past 12 years, with Montana Tech winning 12 of those contests, including the last four meetings.

Eastern Oregon is coming off a fantastic season a year ago, making the cut to play in the NAIA National Championship First Round in Butte, where they fell to Thomas Moore University. The Mountaineers are guided by Head Coach Chris Kemp who starting his third year at the helm.
This tournament will be the first real action of the year for the Mountaineers, they will start with Montana Western on Friday before meeting the Orediggers on Saturday.
Even though Eastern Oregon played a tournament game in the HPER last season, the Orediggers and Mountaineers have only played once recently, that was on November 17, 2012. The matchup was part of a preseason tournament in Helena, and the win went to Eastern Oregon that day 77-60.
The Orediggers will meet the Mounties for the first time on a basketball court in over a decade on Saturday at 11 am.
