LEWISTON, Idaho -- The Montana Tech women's golf team got its spring season started Monday with Round 1 of the Warrior Spring Classic, checking in fifth in the team standings at the tournament's midway point.
The Orediggers got around the par-72, 5,800-yard track at the Lewiston Golf & Country Club with a 53-over-par team score of 341.
Samantha Benson led the way for Tech, carding a 10-over 82 to put herself in a tie for 12th. The senior from Billings highlighted her round with birdie on the par-4 third hole, one of just two players in the tournament to make birdie there.
Junior
Kodie Hoagland also logged a birdie, hers on hole No. 2, en route to a 12-over-par 84 and a share of 18th place.

Franchi Ceartin logged a 14-over 86 to sit in a tie for 22nd, while junior
Emma Woods and freshman
Casha Corder each scored 89s to tie for 26th. Corder also netted a birdie in her first round of 2025, making 4 on the par-5 18th.
The Orediggers also had three individuals in the 41-woman field. Junior
Hayden Pride took 89 strokes for the round to tie with Corder and Woods for 26th, junior
Samantha Moore finished tied for 32nd at 93, and freshman
Delaney Clark carded a 96th to sit in a tie for 35th.
Tech's team score of 341 put the Orediggers fifth in the six-team field at the tournament's midway point. The Diggers trail fourth-place North Idaho College by just five strokes. Tournament host Lewis-Clark State led the pack on Day 1, shooting a 23-over 311 to best second-place University of Victoria by a stroke.
Montana Tech, playing on grass for the first time this year, will conclude the Warrior Spring Invite Tuesday with a 9:30 a.m. MDT shotgun start.
