HELENA, Mont. -- Emma Woods made history Monday as the first-ever Montana Tech women's golfer to win medalist honors at a tournament. Tuesday, the Orediggers' junior logged another program first — Frontier Conference women's golfer of the week honors.Â
The Fairfield product shot a Day 2 score of 81 to recover from her opening-round 90 to win the Columbia Basin Invitational at a 27-over-par 171. She topped fellow Orediggers
Samantha Benson and
Casha Corder by a stroke.Â
The trio led Tech to a tournament win for the second time this season and just the third time in the program's history.Â
Woods and the Orediggers will have a short turnaround to prepare for the Frontier Conference championships, set for Monday, April 14 through Wednesday, April 16 at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz.Â
