AUSTIN, Texas -- Four Montana Tech women's golfers earned Academic All-District accolades from College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday with its full list of women's at-large team members.
Seniors
Samantha Benson and
Franchi Ceartin and juniors
Kodie Hoagland and
Emma Woods all garnered the dual-emphasis awards.
Benson, an occupational safety and health major and business minor from Billings, led the Orediggers with an 81.2 scoring average in 2024-25. She represented the women's golf program on Montana Tech's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was twice named the program's NAIA Champion of Character. She sported a 3.72 grade-point average when she graduated this spring.
Ceartin, a Bozeman native, graduated with a 3.88 GPA in her exercise and health science major and accounting minor. She will pursue a doctor of physical therapy. Ceartin served Tech as a SAAC representative for the women's golf program. On the course, she logged two top-10 finishes on the season and ranked fifth on the team with an 85.1 average.
Hoagland, an occupational safety and health major from Butte, ranked third among the Orediggers with her 82.3 scoring average. She finished tied for third at the Frontier/CalPac NAIA Qualifier to land on the all-tournament team along with recognition as the Orediggers' Champion of Character for the season. She holds a 3.73 GPA.
Woods, a biological sciences major with a 3.88 GPA, became the first-ever Montana Tech women's golfer to win a tournament, earning medalist honors at the Columbia Basin Invitational in April. The Fairfield product's 81.7 scoring average ranked second on the team, and she led the Orediggers with three top-five and five top-10 finishes. One of those came at the Frontier/CalPac NAIA Qualifier, where she tied for third to land on the all-tournament team.
Student-athletes must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, sophomore or better standing, and be a starter or significant contributor to their team. Academic All-District award recipients are then selected for eligibility for Academic All-America honors by a CSC committee. Both Hoagland and Woods advanced to the national ballot.
The at-large category in the NAIA includes student-athletes participating in women's beach volleyball, men's and women's bowling, cheer, dance, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's volleyball, and men's and women's wrestling.
College Sports Communicators, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), is a 4,400-member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. Established in 1952 and selected by CSC membership, the Academic All-America program is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports.
