DICKINSON, N.D. -- The Montana Tech men's golf team hung on for a third-place finish Tuesday in the final round of the Dickinson State Invitational.
The Orediggers, coming off a strong 36 holes Monday, carded a team score of 13-over-par 301 Tuesday. That was enough to best fourth-place Dickinson State by four strokes as Tech posted a tournament score of 884 (293-290-301) thrice around the par-72 Heart River Golf Course. Rocky Mountain won the tournament with a three-round total of 820, followed by second-place Bellevue at 839.
Sophomore
Carson Hupka set the pace for Montana Tech, following Monday's 1-over-par performance with a 1-under 71 to finish 11th at 216 over the 54 holes. Junior
Joe McGreevey wrapped up four strokes behind (71-71-78—220) in 14th.
Sophomore
Landon Olson also placed in the top 20, finishing tied for 17th with his 72-76-77—225.
Freshman
Brenner Booth (72-76-77—225, 23rd) and senior
Trey Mattson (84-74-76—234, t-30th) rounded out the scoring roster for Tech.
Playing as an individual, sophomore
Christian Lund finished in a tie for 25th at 73-81-75—229. Sophomore
Colin Wade was 29th, shooting his best round of the tournament Tuesday with a 3-over 75. He checked in at 233 strokes for the week, while classmate
Keyan Coate tied for 39th (76-80-82—238).
Rocky Mountain's Kristjan Burkelca won the tournament at 17 under par, shooting 199 over the three rounds.
Montana Tech will head to Laurel to finish the fall portion of its schedule September 29-30 in the Beartooth Invitational at Laurel Golf Club.
