KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Montana Tech's football team continues to move up in the NAIA national rankings.
The Orediggers checked in at No. 6 in the latest Netting Professionals NAIA coaches' top 25, the national office announced Monday. Tech moved up a spot from last Monday's rankings.
It's Montana Tech's highest ranking since October 2, 2017, when the Diggers were ranked fifth.
This year's iteration of the Montana Tech football team carries a 4-0 record thus far, including a trio of victories over top-25 foes. One of those came Saturday, a resounding 37-14 road win at No. 24-ranked Southern Oregon. Tech also has victories over then-No. 5 Montana Western (38-27, August 28), then-No. 25 Carroll (30-19, September 6), and Rocky Mountain (34-23, September 13).
The Orediggers rank in the NAIA's top 20 in rushing first downs (43), rushing yards per game (184.5), passing yards per completion (15.2), and fourth-down percentage (6-for-9, 67 percent).
Montana Tech remains the highest-ranked Frontier Conference team in the poll; Montana Western moved to No. 9, Carroll checked in at No. 18, Dickinson State fell to No. 20, and the Orediggers' upcoming opponent, College of Idaho, jumped into the poll at No. 25.
The Orediggers and the also-unbeaten Yotes kick off on Bob Green Field at noon Saturday.
