LAUREL -- Montana Tech's men's golf team played into fourth place over the first 36 holes of the Beartooth Invitational Monday at Laurel Golf Club.
The Orediggers fired team rounds of 300 and 303 to finih 27 over par after two trips around the par-72, 6,723-yard course, led by sophomore
Carson Hupka's scores of 2-under 70 and 6-over 78.
Hupka landed 20th in the individual standings, while teammates
Joe McGreevey (74-78, t-23rd),
Colin Wade (73-79, t-23rd), and
Trey Mattson (77-76, 25th) all joined him in the top 25.
Sophomore
Christian Lund wrapped up Monday a stroke behind after carding rounds of 79 and 75.
Sophomores
Landon Olson (83-74, t-32nd) and
Keyan Coate (79-84, t-43rd) rounded out the Oredigger lineup.
Tech holds a six-stroke lead over Rocky Mountain's 'B' team, which sits fifth after the opening rounds. Host RMC's 'A' team leads the tournament at 24 under par, followed by second-place Lewis-Clark State (9-under). Bellevue has a handle on third at 3-over.
The Beartooth Invitational will wrap up Tuesday with the final 18 holes. The shotgun start is set for 9 a.m.
