GREAT FALLS -- Kodie Hoagland wrote her name into the Montana Tech women's golf record books Monday, carding the lowest round in program history as the Orediggers jumped out to the lead after Day 1 of the Providence Invitational.Â
The Butte native shot an even-par 71 to open her senior season at Eagle Falls Golf Club, carding a pair of birdies along the way. Hoagland's mark topped the previous single-round record of 72, set by teammate
Emma Woods two seasons ago in Havre. It also tied Woods' record of round relative to par.Â
That due and their teammates matched Montana Tech's team low round record as well, checking in at 307. The Orediggers sit 21 strokes ahead of second-place Dickinson State in the team standings.Â
Woods and teammates
Keni Wade and
Casha Corder all shot 7-over-par 78s to hit the midway point in a tie for fifth.Â
Hayden Pride also checked into the top 10, sitting eighth with a 10-over 81. Pride had more birdies, four, than any other player in the field.Â
Montana Tech will look to wrap up the tournament victory Tuesday with another 18 holes.Â
