HELENA -- Montana Tech senior Hayden Diekhans landed the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference men's basketball defensive player of the week award, the league office announced Monday afternoon. 

Diekhans, a forward from Geraldine, helped the 19th-ranked Orediggers to a 2-0 weekend on the road. He totaled 11 points, five rebounds, three steals, and a block in Friday's 90-68 win at Bismarck State and followed that Saturday with seven points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a 77-57 road triumph over Dickinson State. 

The reigning conference defensive player of the year is currently tied atop the conference leaderboard for defensive rebounds at 6.6 per game. 

It's the second conference defensive player of the week award for Diekhans this season and the fifth of his career. Montana Western's Kyle Gruhler won the offensive weekly honor. 

Diekhans and the Oredigger men sport a 12-3 record and a 6-3 mark in Frontier Conference play. They have won four straight in league play. 

Tech will look to extend that win streak to five Friday at 7 p.m. against Providence at home.
