Western's Defense Stifles Tech

Box Score DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western defense stifled the Orediggers in the first half of the season opener drowning Tech 38-6.

The Orediggers (0-1) lose their third straight game to the Bulldogs.

A three and out, blocked punt a fumble opened the game for Tech and kept the ball with the Bulldog offense. Western took advantage of the opportunities scoring on their first three possessions.

The Bulldog defense continually gave their offense good field position throughout the first half leading to the lopsided score in the first frame.

Western's Tyler Hulse threw three touchdowns in the first half.

The Orediggers only score came seconds into the fourth quarter. Andrew Loudenback connected with Alec Bray on a 14 yard pass.

The Tech defense held Western's offense in check in second half holding the Bulldogs to a field goal.

Western held Pat Hansen to just 51 yards on the ground. Although Tech held Western's top back Sam Ruthaford to just 34 yards.

Rial Gunlickson had eight tackles in the game and just missed an interception in the second half.

David Meis had seven tackles and 3.5 for a loss.

Montana Tech hosts Montana State Northern next Saturday on Bob Green Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
